The
Bintulu
Port
Authority
was
established
on
August
15,
1981
under
Bintulu
Port
Authority
Act
1981.
The
port
started
operations
on
January
1
,
1983.Bintulu
Port
Sdn
Bhd,
a
fully
government
owned
firm,
took
over
all
port
facilities
and
services
from
Bintulu
Port
Authority
in
January
1993.
Bintulu
Port
operated
by
Bintulu
Port
Sdn
Bhd
and
Bintulu
Port
Authority
remains
as
the
regulatory
body

LIMITS: |
|
Bintulu
Port
has
a
total
land
area
of
320
hectares.
Its
water
limits
extend
in
an
arc
seawards
as
far
as
18km
|

PILOTAGE: |
|
Frequency:

18,
20
and
22
Procedures:
i.
Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels
25 m LOA entering or leaving the port
water limits.
ii.
Pilotage
services
are
available
around
the
clock
and incoming
vessels
shall
contact Bintulu Port Control Tower
on Channel 12 when they are within VHF
range.
iii. Ships
in
distress
can
contact
the
port
on
channel
16
and an SSB station is
in operation on 463KHz.
iv. The
pilot boarding position Lat 03 ( 18'.0 N

port
can
be
approached
through
a
dredged
access
channel
about
5.7
km
long,
240
meters
wide
and
15
meters
deep

|
There
is
a
SBM
facility
for
tankers
up
to
320,000
dwt.
Petroleum
