Subject to the committee's approval, it was decided to include 7 ship types in the EEDI-requirements as a start, namely bulk carriers, gas tankers, tankers, container ships, general cargo ships, refrigerated cargo carriers and combination carriers.
Reduction factors were set at 0% for 2013-2015, 10% for 2015-2020, 15-20% for 2020-2025 and 30% from 2025 and onwards. Cut-off limits in respect of ship size were decided for the various ships types, e.g. bulk carriers below 10,000 DWT are not included in the EEDI-requirements.
At the time of reporting, no conclusions had been reached by the committee on this issue.
