MISC Integrated Logistics Services Sdn Bhd is seizing a niche market
opportunity to supply logistics related services spawned with the
development of a regional halal market in Malaysia.
To progress on its plans MISC Integrated Logistics Services Sdn Bhd (MILS),
a wholly-owned subsidiary of MISC Bhd, has set up the biggest halal regional
cold chain logistics hub with Free Commercial Zone status in Pulau Indah,
Port Klang.
Initially, the Port Klang Regional Logistics Hub, expected to be ready by
November this year, will offer 24,000 square meters dry and chilled area.
“Once all three Phases are completed the centre will be able to offer 90,000
square metres multi modular storage and processing facility. It will be the
biggest cold room facility and will further boost the government’s intention
of developing halal hub centre in the country,” said, the managing
director/CEO of MISC Integrated Logistics Sdn Bhd, Hilmi Mohd Nashir.
The 41 acres site will be developed in three Phases. Among the other
services offered by the hub centre includes cold store, Vendor Managed
Inventory, light assembly, post delivery inspection, yard management,
sterilization, fumigation, inventory management, haulage and distribution
services, freight and customs management and a container yard.
The world class logistics centre offers a complete range of value-added
logistics solutions and is supported by the state-of-art IT system
comprising of modular operating system linked together by a web based
integrated supply chain execution and visibility systems providing linkage
to customers’ ERP solutions.
The regional hub offers 31,000 pallet positions in its dry, cold and chilled
area is link with sea, air and rail mode of transportation.
“The hub is also well connected with our self-operated land bridge service
into Thailand and Singapore. We have a fleet of prime movers and trailer to
complement door-door service in the cross border trade. Our Malaysia-Thai
and Singapore-Tebrau sectors are also doing well said Hilmi.
The domestics operation is complemented by the company’s strategic alliances
with MAS Kargo, POS Logistics and SterilGamma for fumigation and
sterilization services.
Hilmi said besides Malaysia, MILS has strategic ventures in Indonesia and
plans to penetrate middle-east market with Dubai as hub.
“In fact, MILS has entered into a joint venture in Sudan to provide
distribution services for the United Nations’ World Food Programme. The
contract with the United Nations will serve as a platform for future
logistics expansion in the region,” said Hilmi.
The hub centers will further expand our logistics business and will ensure
MILs emerge as on the competitive regional logistics hub solution provider,
