Transport Minister Datuk Sri Chan Kong Choy will open the 1st Asian Railway
Conference and Exhibition in Petaling Jaya today.
A total of 18 presentations, covering future of rail developments in
Malaysia and Thailand as well as speakers touching on new technologies such
as on high speed trains and prospects for development of a virtual rail hub
will be made at the Conference.
A major attraction at the Conference will be the Exhibition that has
attracted several local and foreign players associated in rail
transportation.
For the first time trade visitors to the two-day exhibition, who even stand
to win lucky draw prizes, will be able to see on display developments
featuring new trends, technologies and techniques in rail transportation.
Siemens Transportation Systems, a major developer and supplier of high
technology in rail equipment and parts leads the group of exhibitors taking
part in the exhibition.
The German based company is a leading international single-source supplier
of rail solutions and products including signaling and control systems,
traction power supplies, rolling stock, turnkey systems and integrated
services.
In Malaysia, Siemens Transportation Systems was awarded project leader for
the construction of the Express Rail Link (ERL) and was responsible for
executing the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the
high speed Kuala Lumpur International Airport Ekspress.
Siemens is also the turnkey consortium leader for the on-going Electrified
Double Track Project between Rawang and Ipoh.
MMC Metal Industries Sdn Bhd, the only licensed manufacturer of the Bogies
in ASEAN for Amsted and Standard Car Truck is another major exhibitor.

logistics services sector, including railways.
Ports which are participating include Westport, Northport, Port of Tanjung
Pelpas and Johor Port while other exhibitors include those involved in the
rail transportation like rail landbridge operators and institutions linked
