The Ship
Planning Message Development Group (SPMDG), a working on creating global EDI
standards for data exchange between shipping liens and container terminals,
will hold its meeting in Kuala Lumpur, on 14-16 October 2003.
The meeting is hosted by Malaysian International Shipping Corporation Bhd (MISC)
and at about 60 representatives from shipping lines and terminals are
expected to attend the meeting that is being held for the first time in this
region.
A new maritime software company, Esoware, will be presented at the meeting.
Esoware is a joint venture between Galozzi Group, owners of Salerno
Container Terminal, and Italian software company Metoda.
The Group, which develops and promotes UN/EDIFACT EDI messages for the
maritime industry, will discuss a number of other issues relating to the
adoption of messaging systems for the liner shipping industry.
This will include the outcome of the sub group's findings on the ebXMl
project, Japanese messaging EDI project as well as adoption of security
seals under the US initiated Container Security Initiative (CSI). |
