Malaysian maritime industry just a mouse click

Demonstrating itself as one of the fastest-growing and popular maritime sites in the region, www.portsworld.com , the Malaysian National Maritime Portal, is well on its way to receive half a million hits since it was launched last August.

Averaging more than 70,000 hits monthly, the National Maritime Portal is the most accessed industry portal in the country.

The portal, that was officially launched by the Deputy Transport Minister Tan Sri Dato DiRaja Ramli Ngah Talib last August, offers the most comprehensive range of information on the maritime industry including searchable directory of maritime companies and on-line information on shipping services at local ports

“We are impressed with the increasing number of hits and this clearly reflects that www.portsworld.com is a well sought after maritime information portal for a variety of on-line data and information on the Malaysian maritime industry,” said the managing director of Ports World Sdn Bhd, G Durairaj.

The portal developed by Ports World Sdn Bhd, a transport resource and data management and research centre, has received endorsement of its portal by way of sponsorships from leading shipping and maritime agencies and companies.

The most recent support came from the Malaysian Maritime Academy in Malacca which has established a direct link from www.portsworld.com to its web-site that offers detailed information on maritime education and courses available at the premier academy.

Several other sponsors include one of the world leading container lines, P&O Nedlloyd, Malaysia’s number one container port – Northport Malaysia – Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas and Halim Mazmin Bhd.

The National Maritime Portal at www.portsworld.com offers free access online to maritime news and a very comprehensive data and information of the Malaysian maritime industry, and also to serves as a platform or an electronic highway as a collaborative marketplace for operators and users in the maritime transport sector to promote, market and transact their businesses.

The portal also provides news breaks, national and international news, features, columns by leading personalities in the industry, transport stocks tracking, opinion poll, editorial supplements, company focus and so on.

The Maritime Data Warehouse on the portal offers online information ranging from details of vessels ownership in Malaysia, details of facilities and services of more than 50 ports in the country, a comprehensive searchable online maritime directory, transport laws and regulations, a trade and port documentation kit and others.

Ports World which is now in Klang is now focusing its efforts in promoting national maritime portal as a marketplace meanwhile is an interactive, real-time platform for providers and users of maritime transport services and products to promote, inter-act, collaborate and transact business ranging from shipping services to bunkering, haulage, education and maritime equipment and communication services.
