KPC enhances asset management

Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd has successfully switched to Datastream’s maintenance programme, or better known as MP2 to enhance and improve maintenance and asset management.

The Managing Director of KPC, Dato’ Mohamed Awang Tera said the system which has been tested since April this year has been functioning well and has helped in maximising of fleet availability and also increase profitability.

The MP2 system developed by Datastream provides high performance, stability, and maintainability and user friendliness as against the previous maintenance software. Currently the mechanical department of KPC uses the system for workflow management, preventive maintenance, equipment management, labour scheduling and report analysis said Dato’ Mohamed.

“We are very impressed with the minimal hassle in deploying a full functionality asset and maintenance management solution such as MP2. The software adapted to our operation procedures with minimum alteration. KPC also become the first port operating entity in Malaysia to acquire such system from Datastream,” said Dato’ Mohamed.

“We are confident that Kuantan Port will achieve the status of becoming the premier gateway to the Pacific Rim - one of the world’s fast growing region. The implementation of MP2 will further steer KPC closer to that goal by improving our fleet management, efficient service and bottom line of the company,” stressed Dato’ Mohamed.

“With MP2, we have improved our maintenance department in terms of efficiency and productivity. Generation of work orders, scheduling of preventive maintenance tasks, tracking of equipment history, can be done faster, easier and more precisely,” said Dato’ Mohamed.

MP2 is a completely integrated asset management system that enables organisation to organise and track inventory, management equipment costs, track equipment history, schedule preventive maintenance tasks, maintain confidential labour records, allocate resources, generate work orders, requisite and purchase parts, and project equipment failure.

Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn. Bhd. made a choice to replace the existing maintenance software with MP2 because of its superior performance, stability, maintainability and user friendliness.

“We are looking to extending the same system with minor modifications to other departments like the electrical, civil and to others which require management of asset,” said Dato’ Mohamed.

MP2 accommodates any size facility.  It can be installed on a stand-alone system or on a client/server system. MP2 seamless upgrade capability allows one to enter data into a standalone version, and then upgrade it to a client/server system with no additional data entry.

“Our solutions are formulated based on years of accumulated experience working with large enterprises. They imbue best practices of profitable companies and industrial standards. Hence, by deploying our solution, companies are essentially inculcating profit-making strategies into their organization,”  commented the Managing Director of Datstream System Pte Ltd, Mr. Allen Gantt.

Datastream Systems Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Datastream Systems Inc, the leading provider of Asset Lifecycle Management software.
