Harbour-Link acquires destiny’s ship

Harbour-Link Group Berhad which has 30 years of experience in handling international outbound and inbound cargo in conventional and container shipments has ventured into container ship-owning and operation.

‘We have acquired two Kuching-registered ships from Grand Marine Shipping Sdn. Bhd for total cash consideration of RM24.4 million and currently both ships are in operation,” said the group Managing Director, Francis Yong Piaw Soon.

The ships - Destiny Pride and Destiny Classic – are being deployed by the Destiny group of companies in the domestic trade.

The ships are serving Port Klang and Pasir Gudang in Peninsula Malaysia, two ports in Sarawak as well as Muara port in Brunei.

The proposed acquisition of vessels is expected to provide Harbour-Link Group with the opportunity to expand its shipping and marine transportation business.

“Besides this service, we are also operating a chartered vessel in the northern region which mainly covers Hong Kong-Kota Kinabalu, Muara and Hong Kong port. We have deployed two ships in the trade,” Francis.

Harbour-Link is also is expected to make a come back in the Satun-Port Klang trade with the acquisition of remaining 40 per cent equity in Satun Shipping Sdn Bhd from TMT Logistic Sdn Bhd early this year. The principal activity of Satun Shipping is ship owning and ship management and freight services.
