Harbour-Link Group Berhad which has 30 years of experience in handling
international outbound and inbound cargo in conventional and container
shipments has ventured into container ship-owning and operation.
‘We have acquired two Kuching-registered ships from Grand Marine Shipping
Sdn. Bhd for total cash consideration of RM24.4 million and currently both
ships are in operation,” said the group Managing Director, Francis Yong Piaw
Soon.
The ships - Destiny Pride and Destiny Classic – are being deployed by the
Destiny group of companies in the domestic trade.
The ships are serving Port Klang and Pasir Gudang in Peninsula Malaysia, two
ports in Sarawak as well as Muara port in Brunei.
The proposed acquisition of vessels is expected to provide Harbour-Link
Group with the opportunity to expand its shipping and marine transportation
business.
“Besides this service, we are also operating a chartered vessel in the
northern region which mainly covers Hong Kong-Kota Kinabalu, Muara and Hong
Kong port. We have deployed two ships in the trade,” Francis.
Harbour-Link is also is expected to make a come back in the Satun-Port Klang
trade with the acquisition of remaining 40 per cent equity in Satun Shipping
Sdn Bhd from TMT Logistic Sdn Bhd early this year. The principal activity of
Satun Shipping is ship owning and ship management and freight services. |
