Malaysia
International Shipping Corp Bhd has
applied, along with the Taiwanese
Evergreen and K Line of Japan, to
join the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh
and Ceylon Conference (IPBCC).
According
to industry sources the move follows
plans to merge two major consortia
operating in the trade between
Europe and northern Europe.
The
IPBCC, one of the oldest shipping
conferences, which started in 1875
already has 16 members including
Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd.
Sources
said Evergreen, plus K Line and
Malaysia International, want to join
the IPBCC after agreeing to merge
their joint service with another
operated by Shipping Corporation of
India, Yangming, and Zim.
