Direct service to Pearl River Delta Ports from Port Klang

In tandem with fast growing volume of traffic between Malaysia and South China, TS Lines will be mounting a dedicated direct service to the Straits, Pearl River Delta ports and Hong Kong effective early June this year.

The first vessel MV Hutuohe is scheduled to call Northport, Port Klang on June 11, 2004 said the line's owners representative, Yanni Li.

The new service known as JTK 3 will link Port Klang, Singapore, Shekou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Kobe, Moji, Pusan, Kwangyang, Keelung, Hong Kong, Port Klang.

A total of three mid-range container carriers (TS Osaka, TS Hong Kong and MV Hutuohe) will be deployed in the weekly service.

This inauguration of the new service is a testimony to TS Lines commitment and confidence in the growing trade activities between Malaysia, South China, Hong Kong and Japan, Yanni said.

"Based on our service routing and rotation, shippers at Port Klang will be provided with the fastest link to Shekou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Kobe and Moji. In fact, we are the only carrier that calls Shekou SCT directly ex Port Klang," said Yanni.

According to Yanni, the trade between China and Malaysia has grown by at least 30 per cent and majority of this growth stem from South China.

"As such our new service in this trade route is timely and will facilitate the continuing growth in South China and strengthen Malaysia's current trade with Japan as well," he added.

"I believe the decision taken by TS Lines to deploy a new service in such trying circumstances only reflects their confidence and commitment to the Malaysian market." said the general manager of Jardine Shipping Services, Thum Hoong Yip.

TS Lines is represented in Malaysia by TS Lines (M) Sdn Bhd, subsidiary of Jardine Shipping Services.

"TS is a serious and long term Intra Asia player and hence, the new service will most certainly benefit the shippers in Port Klang with the fast link to South China, Pearl River Delta ports, especially Shekou/Hong Kong as well as Osaka, Kobe and Moji" added Thum.
