The
Hong Kong based Overseas Orient
Container Line (OOCL) is reported
to have upgraded the capacity of
their six mega containerships up
to 7700 TEUs from the original
design of 7400 TEUs.
The
design arrangement has been
adjusted to allow mostly for
loading of empty containers.
OOCL,
which is one of the largest liners
calling Northport at Port Klang,
ordered the first two ships in
November 2000 and then this year
declared options on a further
four.
The
Hong Kong liner company still
holds two options. Even at 7400
TEUs the vessels are the largest
declared capacity vessels under
construction.
