Sinokor set-up Malaysia outfit

Sinokor Merchant Marine a fast-rising S Korean shipping line has set-up its own agency in Malaysia known as Sinokor Merchant Marine (M) Sdn Bhd following the foot-steps of other Korean shipping lines, namely Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine, KMTC, Heung-A and Dongnama.
 
“After six years of our presence in the Malaysian market we are very confident of the trade and therefore decided to have our own agency network the banner of Sinokor in Malaysia to serve our shippers more effectively,” said the Managing Director of Sinokor Merchant Marine (M) Sdn Bhd, Yu Chae Ho.
 
The Malaysia outfit is a joint venture company between Sinokor Merchant Marine with 70 per cent stake and the remaining 30 per cent owned by its former general agent, for Metroport Shipping Sdn Bhd.
 
Metroport shipping is a subsidiary of Metroport Group which is a leading total logistics operator which 25 offices throughout Malaysia.
 
In conjunction of the inauguration of the new agency, the company has mounted a new revamped service known as Indonesia Malaysia Service.
 
Six vessels with 1,600 TEUs capacity have been injected into the trade jointly operated by Sinokor and and another Korean line, Heung-A.
 
Sinokor will be deploying one ship while Heung-A will provide five vessels, said Ho.

The full rotation of the service takes 42 days and connects Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Ulsan, Inchon, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Inchon, Busan and Hong Kong.

Sinokor is also operating a Korea-Malaysia service with Hanjin Shipping calling Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Inchon, Qingdao and Hong Kong.

“Besides these two direct services, we are also transshipping our regional containers via Port Klang. We are deploying the general feeder operators to reach Medan, Myanmar and Vietnam market from Port Klang and we hope to expand the network of regional market in near future, said Ho.
