Conference on investment opportunities in Sarawak

A focused conference and exhibition to highlight the emerging role of Bintulu Port in the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines Est Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) will be held in Bintulu, Sarawak 15-16 January.

  

The conference, to be officiated by the Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik, will also coincide with the official opening of Bintulu International Container Terminal (BICT) by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abdul Taib Mahmud.

  

The two-day event, aimed at exploring trade and investment opportunities in Sarawak, is supported by Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd and organsied in joint association with the BIMP-EAGA Joint Business Council & the East Asean Business Council.

  

A total of 17 papers will be delivered by leading conference speakers, including the director-general of the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Iskandar Dzakurnain, Datuk Abang Hj Abd Karim Tun Opening, chairman of BIMP-EAGA Malaysia Business Council, Basheer Hassan, managing director/CEO of Northport (M) Bhd

  

Others speakers include from Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, Royal Malaysian Customs, Bintulu Development Authority, Sarawak SEDC, Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd and Evergreen Marine Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

  

A two-day exhibition will also be held in conjunction with the conference organized by Transport Events Management Sdn Bhd.
