The
Minister of Transport Dato Seri Dr
Ling Liong Sik will be the
Guest-of-Honour at the Transport
Industry Awards Nite 2001
organized by the Chartered
Institute of Transport (Malaysia
National Section).
The
Awards Nite, to be held on 13
August 2001, is expected to be
attended by more than 700
practitioners from the transport
industry as well as several
officials and representatives from
governmental and non-governmental
agencies associated with the
industry.
The
Institute said the highlight of
the evening would be the
presentation of the Transport
Personality Award 2001 and the
Transport Company of Excellence
2001 by the Minister of Transport.
A
distinguished panel that includes
the Secretary General of the
Ministry of Transport, Datuk
Zaharah will select the recipient
of the Awards from nominations
from the public based on a set of
pre-determined criteria.
CIT
said the inauguration of the Award
is aimed at bringing about a wider
public acknowledgment of its
progress, achievements and the
contributions to the national
economy.
“The
Transport industry requires an
event or the platform that could
serve to enhance public’s
perception and image of the
performance of the industry,”
the Institute said.
