Richards
Butler, a top 20 law firm based in
the UK, has appointed what is
believed to be the first
Singaporean partner specialising
in shipping law in London to a
firm of this size and standing.
Nicholas
Woo, 37, who files a regular legal
column for this page from London,
is one of nine new partners being
made up in the firm three of whom
are shipping experts.
Nicholas,
who was called to the Bar in
England in 1986 and to the Bar in
Singapore in 1988, speaks fluent
Mandarin and Cantonese and worked
for China Ocean Shipping Company
in Singapore before joining
Richards Butler. His working
experience with COSCO gives him a
particular commercial knowledge of
the Chinese, Malaysian and
Singaporean shipping market.
Richards
Butler, which has 414 lawyers, is
an international law practice and
has offices in Abu Dhabi, Beijing,
Brussels, Hong Kong, Paris,
Piraeus, Sao Paulo and Warsaw with
associated offices in Doha and
Muscat.
