The
Far Eastern Freight Conference has
appointed ROD Riseborough as chief
executive in a move seen as
strengthening the conference
further.
He
takes over at a critical time for
the FEFC whose members are
considering a new round of
capacity cuts as market conditions
in the Europe/Asia trades continue
to deteriorate.
Riseborough
will start his new job on November
19.
The
post is a new position which
follows a review of the FEFC, one
of the world’s oldest liner
shipping conferences.
The
move by the FEFC to appoint
Riseborough is expected to pave
the way for a company to set up,
similar to Liner Shipping Services
in Australia, which manages a
number of conferences.
According
to industry sources the
London-based FEFC secretariat
oversees a number of conferences
on the Europe and Asia trades and
there are now plans to widen the
portfolio and seek to run other
conferences as well.
