Dutch assistance for Malaysian businesses

Local companies engaged in marine engineering, naval architecture, modelling and ship building are invited to apply for financial assistance by The Netherlands government to conduct various research projects and R&D partnerships with the Dutch under the "Technological Collaboration Subsidy Scheme".

The financial support scheme for R&D collaboration between the Netherlands and Malaysia is being offered to allow local companies to gain access to new know-how and markets, as well as cost and risk sharing.

The Dutch Government has launched a Technological Collaboration Subsidy Scheme ("Technologische Samenwerking Internationaal or TSI") which is aimed at stimulating collaboration between Dutch businesses and their foreign counterparts in the area of R&D, according to a statement from the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Kuala Lumpur..

“In view of the good perspectives for Dutch businesses here in Malaysia, it was decided to add Malaysia to the list of countries qualifying for financial backing under the Technological Collaboration Subsidy Scheme,” the statement added.

The Scheme seeks to encourage R&D collaboration in the area of R&D collaboration between Dutch and Malaysian businesses and research institutes.

The Scheme is being co-ordinated by SenterNovem, which is an agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It implements government policy in the fields of technology, energy, environment, exports and international co-operation.

Its objective is to make an enduring contribution to the position of the business sector and knowledge institutions in the Netherlands.

Details of the SenNovem Financial Support Scheme and Registration Form have been posted on www.portsworld.com and interested companies may download the application forms.

Meanwhile, Jan Kok, Commercial Secretary of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said SenterNovem will host the “SenterNovem Matchmaking Event” in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, 28th September 2005.

Interested companies or individuals have been requested by the Royal Netherlands Embassy to request for an appointment to meet with potential Dutch partners.
