Singapore
port which expects its container
throughput to dip by about 10 per
cent this year but remains
confident of a recovery in box
volumes either late this year or
early 2002.
The
port which saw its domestic
volumes plunge 13% in the first
half of this year to 7.54m
TEUs compared with 8.66m TEUs in
the same period a year earlier
said a recovery was imminent late
this year or early next
year.
PSA
expects an upturn in volumes as
the Christmas peak season
approaches.
The
announced 10 per cent fall in
throughput for this year will mean
the port’s annual throughput
will plunge to 15.3m TEUs compared
to 17.04m TEUs in 2000.
