Accord Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd has set its target to breach the RM200
million-mark for turnover this year in what it sees as favourable market
condition for the growth of its 3PL operations.
The company is pushing had to enhance its third party logistics (3PL)
operation by increasing the efficiency and quality of its total logistics
services to customers.
“As a fast growing total logistics provider we aim to be the top 3PL
solution provider in Malaysia market by 2009,” said its managing director
Michael Lee.
“We have grown strength to strength, from a local freight forwarding company
to a strong regional integrated logistics service provider with 133
experienced personnel,” he said.
Today Accord Logistics Malaysia is one of the fast expanding 3PL players
with an annual sales turnover of RM 173 million in 2004.
The company has offices in Port Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Pasir Gudang.
“We are confident of registering another 30 per cent growth in 2005 and to
cross RM225 million marks for the current financial year,” said Michael in
Klang recently.
Last year the company handled 50,000 TEUs to various destinations including
small portion to and from Sabah and Sarawak and has targeted 70,000 TEUs
this year.
Its airfreight division handled 5,000 tonnes last year.
“Our operation is being well supported by the fleet of trucks and we made
close to 20,000 trips in 2004 to support our more than 150 customers,” said
Michael.
Its clients comes from various industries like electronics,
telecommunication, high tech, chemical, industrial, consumer products,
project cargoes, furniture and automotives.
The company offers global freight management, parts components management,
vendor-managed inventory, manufacturing hub operation, regional distribution
center and total supply chain management.
“Unlike the other 3PL operator, we at Accord provide B2B interfaces, which
can support whole e-commerce relationship,” said Michael.
“For effective 3PL, a strategic partnership between the customer and the
service provider is recommended. This way, the service provider is able to
better understand the customer’s needs and customise a suitable solution for
the customer,” explained Micheal.
The company offers 3PL solution to Samsung and to ensure the best possible
outcome for the collaboration, a number of Accord employees were stationed
in these companies.
They take care on the responsibility of handling all the shipment
arrangements to save time and achieve greater efficiency in documentation.
Michael said the extensive collaboration between the two parties extended to
a range of freight-forwarding services from door-to-port throughout Asia,
right through to warehouse operation.
The strategic partnership between Accord Logistics and Samsung enabled the
two companies to learn from each other and leverage their combined resources
to achieve greater cost and time-savings, as well as improved operational
efficiency. |
