Global distribution center at PTP

Kenwood, a global supplier of electronic products, is expected to put Malaysia on the map with its commencement of its global distribution center last week at the distripark in Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas.

The Kenwood Global Distribution Centre (GDC), which will also enhance the utilization of PTP, has an area of 15,050 square meters (160,000 sq. feet) and is a purpose-designed warehouse catering towards Kenwood's specific needs and requirements to an international distribution standard.

It is located inside the PTP's Distripark area, a vast land area of about 400 acres with basic infrastructure in place.

The GDC's core activities will include storage and distribution of completed goods and parts of Kenwood products.

The distribution will include key markets in U.S., Europe and Far East, all of which are available through direct calls at PTP.

Kenwood is the port’s first land anchor tenants at the port which is focusing itself as regional logistics and distribution center.

All the land is now ready for occupancy and the port is offering potential users options for warehouses to be built for them or for the sub-lease of bare land.

PTP is confident that of the potential to capture new consolidation and re-distribution business from a growing port will be the key factor in attracting potential MNCs and distribution/logistics companies.

Other companies that have taken advantage of these factors include Pelepas Logistics who are currently operational with two warehouses, Malaysian Industrial Estates, Tiong Nam and JB Cocoa.
