Northport Corporation Bhd, has appointed Basheer Hassan bin Abdul Kader as the new managing director for its two subsidiaries – Klang Container Terminal and Klang Port Management.

Basheer, 47, replaces Abdul Halim Harun, who has been appointed as the managing director of UMW Industries Bhd.

Basheer, who began his career with Kontena Nasional Bhd, 14 years ago, before moving over to KCT when it was privatized in 1986 holds honours degrees in Economics (University of Malaya) and Law (University of London) as well as the Malaysian Certificate of Legal Practice.  He also attended the Advance Management Programme at the Harvard University, USA.
