Containership-chartering activity has stalled during a time of year when it
is normally buzzing but industry commentators are confident the market has
not peaked.
Carriers are again pressing to see shorter charter lengths, while owners of
the few remaining ships for hire are sticking out for longer periods.
There is very little tonnage to charter in the next few months but the
shortage appears to have led to a reduction in fixing appetite.
Lines unable to gather enough ships for new services dropped or delayed
plans and are now not hunting for tonnage. |
