DNV in venture with Petronas subsidiary

Det Norske Veritas Sdn Bhd and Petronas Research and Scientific Services, a subsidiary of  Petronas have signed a “Strategic Technology Alliance” on technology transfer from DNV to PRSS covering an initial five-year period.

PRSS provides technical services to the petroleum gas and petrochemicals sectors as well as advising on corrosion and environmental management.

The deal covers projects involving the Petronas group including risk-based inspection, abandonment planning, pipeline risk management, asset integrity and the condition assessments of Petronas’ offshore support vessel fleet. However, it extends to pitching for other business.

DNV Malaysia’s managing director, Abdul Hak Mohd Amin, said: “The alliance will aim primarily to establish co-operation between PRSS and DNV Kuala Lumpur, though the agreement is also intended to have a wider coverage and incorporate work for third party projects in southeast Asia.”

PRSS said the sharing of knowledge and information between the two companies will also aid technology transfer and the development of manpower expertise to help us extend our value-adding research and development and consultancy solutions.
