Vessel movements record remarkable progress

Westport at Port Klang is ably coping with increased vessels calls trough better team-work between its control center and the Marine Department.

This has been reflected in the impressive handling of 47 vessel moves in a single day recently, a further increase on record 42 vessels moves noted in December last year.

According to the port, on the average the terminal handled 13 – 14 vessels per day which when translated to berthing and unberthing of vessels, will average 26 – 28 pilot movements.

“These movements include leading a vessel into the terminal and taking it out after completion of operations. This is stretched to about 30 vessel moves on peak days,” it said in a statement.

The outstanding performance of 47-vessel movements included 38 container vessel moves, five Roro (Roll on/Roll off) vessel moves and 4 moves on a liquid bulk carrier.
