MV ECO VISION AT WESTPORT

Dry Bulk Carrier, "MV Eco Vision" sailed into Westport waters today on her maiden voyage to the 'home port'.

On this call, MV Eco Vision will discharged 25,500 tones of bulk raw sugar from Bundaberg (Australia) at Westport's dry bulk terminal which has handled a total tonnage of 38 vessels during the January to July 2001 period with a total tonnage of 538, 348 metric tones. Westport's infrastructure to receive the biggest vessels and related facilities to discharge up to 7,500 MT per day with one crane also makes it the leading Dry Bulk Terminal for bulk sugar handling in the region.

On Completion, MV Eco Vision is scheduled to return to Australia to load a full cargo of Rutile and Concentrates from Geraldton to Taiwan and Japan.

Ecoship Sdn Bhd is a wholly owned Subsidiary of Austbulk Group of Companies that provides ship management services for the group's vessels and also offers operational support for both owned and chartered-in vessels.

In house ship-management enables Ecoship to have full control over the high standards of maintenance critical to satisfy the very stringent demands of AMSA-the Port State Control , Australia and in providing uninterrupted and timely shipping services that is expected from the shippers and charterers. The company's slogan "Zero tolerance for downtime" is preached to crew members on all their vessels.

Austbulk Shipping Sdn Bhd (ASSB) was incorporated in October 1995 in Kuala Lumpur as an investment holding company focusing on marine transportation. In response to the aspiration of the Malaysia Government to help stem the outflow on invisible"- the bulk of which consisted of freight, ASSB joint ventured with The Development Bank of Singapore (DBS Bank) to acquire small handy size bulk carriers ranging from 21,500 dwt to 26,840 dwt.

Billy G H Tan, owner of ASSB, through his experience and contacts over the years, carved a niche in the parcel trade of minor dry bulk cargoes from Australia to destinations in the Far East. As a result the company went on to acquire 6 more vessels with specifications suitable for that particular trade within a short period of time . Today Austbulk operates 11 to 12 vessels at any given time through chartering arrangement of varying duration i.e. from per trip to period of 2 years. The reliability of its services has resulted in the company being awarded the Contracts of Affreightment ranging from 60,000 tones to 150,000 tones per annum.
