CMM system for quay cranes

Crane Maintenance Monitoring System (CMMS) is an intelligent IT application system that offers users to keep track of the performance of the quay cranes and achieve higher productivity.

Northport, which recently delivery of three the latest type of super  post-panamax cranes has equipped the cranes the latest state-of-art crane technology.

It is also expected to install the same system, developed by e-seaports.com Sdn Bhd, in the older fleet of 11 unit of gantry cranes at the Berth 7-10. If the system function well we will extended to other quay-cranes at the remaining berth at Northport.

The chief executive officer of e-Seaport.com. Sdn Bhd, Juan Jose Aguero said the innovative CMMS system in the new quay cranes is directly also linked with yard operating equipment like rubber tyred gantry cranes and straddle carriers.

It also provides the advantage in minimizing downtime of the equipment through on-line monitoring and preventive maintenance.

“This is important as almost 70 per cent of the latest generation super-post panamax cranes are being controlled electronically. As such it is easy for us to solve any teething problem from any part of the world without coming to the port site,” he added.

The cranes are directly linked to the crane's Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).

It continuously monitors the crane's operational status and maintenance condition from every position sensors on-board the crane and capture information like container size, weight, cycle times, etc., useful for quayside vessels load/discharge operation.
