A special presentation on the
Canadian Asia-Pacific Gateway & Corridor
Initiative, aimed at strengthening the trade and
transportation network in Canada and to market
it as the best network facilitating global
supply chains between North America and Asia,
will be held for the trading and transport
communities in Malaysia.
The special presentation on the multi billion
dollar initiative by Mr. Michael Fine, Principal
Advisor, Asia-Pacific Gateway & Corridor
Initiative, Government of Canada, on 4 November
2008 will highlight to shippers, transport modal
providers and intermediaries in Malaysia the
vast opportunities in store under the Asia
Pacific Gateway & Corridor Initiative.
The Asia Pacific Gateway & Corridor Initiative
is a system of transportation infrastructure,
including British Columbia Lower Mainland and
Prince Rupert ports, road and rail connections
that reach across Western Canada and into the
economic heartlands of North America, as well as
major airports and border crossings.
The Commercial Counsellor in the Canadian High
Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Mr Tracy Reynolds
said the special presentation would give the
transportation and logistics communities in
Malaysia an opportunity to interact with the
sponsors of the Gateway & Corridor Initiative in
order to see how the transport service providers
and shippers would be able to exploit the
advantages of improving greater efficiency and
reliability in the expanding trade between Asia
and North America.
The Asia Pacific Gateway & Corridor Initiative
is an integrated package of investment and
policy measures that will advance the capacity
and efficiency of the Asia Pacific Gateway &
Corridor and Canadian ability to take advantage
of it.
