The well known Korean shipping, Dongnama
Shipping Co has re-branded its name to C& Line
Co Ltd.
The re-branding of Dongnama Shipping Co which
was established on September 1984 is intended to
give more credence to the desire by its parent
company - C& Group - to project the shipping
business.
The move is also primarily intended to harmonise
the names of its operating business subsidiaries
to that of the C& Group, the holding company
which is a public listed group in Korea said
Ronnie Yeoh, the general manager of Dongnama
Shipping (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
The re-branding would also help in the group’s
plans to include long haul trade which is
currently being revamped and will make inroad to
Middle East service in the near future.
The old name of Dongnama, means “South East
Asia” and thus would seems to limit its region
of operations to only the Intra-Asia zones, said
Ronnie.
He said the Malaysian agency will remain as the
Dongnama Shipping (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd until
further notice.
This is to facilitate our continued smooth
transaction as the Malaysian agents for C& Line,
he added.
C& Line started its first container service in
1974 between Japan and other Southeast Asian
countries and slowly expanded its operations to
other parts of the world.
Today the line has a fleet of some 80 ships
covering 49 routes throughout Asia and will soon
broaden its service to include all regions of
the globe.
In 1979 the line initiated a service to
Malaysian market and since the service has been
expanded to three weekly services from Malaysian
market namely Japan Straits Service, Korea
Straits Service and Korea China Service with
nine ships.
The weekly service from Port Klang links four
Japanese ports namely Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya,
Kobe and is also offers five day transit time to
Hong Kong and eight days transit time to Kobe
Port.
The full rotation of the service connects Port
Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Yokohama,
Nagoya, Kobe, Hong Kong and Port Klang.
In the Korea China Malaysia weekly service, C&
Line deploys six ships and connects 10 major
ports in five countries namely Korea, China,
Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam - in the weekly
route.
The full port of rotation of the service links
Inchon, Ulsan, Busan, Shanghai, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Penang, Port Klang, Singapore,
Vietnam, Hong Kong and Shekou. |
