PORT INFORMATION |
|
All
facilities and services developed by Port
Klang Authority have been privatised
to private companies - Klang
Container Terminal Bhd, Klang
Port Management Sdn Bhd and West
Port to
Kelang
Multi Terminal Sdn Bhd. Port
Klang Authority retains regulatory
authority and oversees the operations of
the companies. It is also responsible
for development of additional facilities
and the passenger terminal operated by Star
Cruise.

PORT LIMITS |
|
Northern
Limits:
A
Line from beacon burning North-West
towards Pulau Angsa Lighthouse until it
intersects Lat 3( 07'.24N thence
extending due East along this latitude
till it meets the mainland.
Southern
Limits:
A
line from Tanjung Ru running West along
Lat 2( 50'. 21 N till it intersects Long
101( 14'.0 E thence extending due North
along this long latitude till it meets
Pulau Pintu Gedong.
There
shall be included within the limits all
waters in Klang Straits Selat Lumut,
Sungai Puluh, Sungai Aur, Sungai Langat
and other waterways continued within the
Lat 3( 07'.24 N and 2( 50'.21 N and
Westwards towards the coast from Long
100(28'.30 E (which passes through
Connaught Bridge) : including all piers,
jetties, landing places, wharves, quays,
docks and other similar works whether
within or without the line of high water
mark subject to any rights of private
property therein.

|
PILOTAGE |
|
Movement
of all vessels within the port's
pilotage district is compulsory. The
service is provided around-the-clock by Klang
Port Management Sdn Bhd and
Kelang
Multi Terminal Sdn Bhd. Pilot
boarding point is either at Pintu Gedong
in
the South channel or Pulau Angsa in
the North channel.
1.
Pilotage Exemption to Master of vessels
|
i. |
The master
of the Vessel should have made not less
than 6 movements in and 6
movements out under compulsory pilotage;
after which he will appear before the
Pilotage Committee for an oral
examination. The master's Knowledge of
the port waters and local regulation
will be assessed and the exemption
issued will be granted the Master, for a
period to be determined by the Pilotage
Committee.

ii. |
Exemption is granted for vessels
calling at the anchorages and not to
the berths of the Terminal
Operators, at the discretion of the Pilotage Committee. |
|
iii. |
Exemption may be
granted to vessels calling at the
private terminals / jetty via:-
Star
Cruise Passenger Terminal, Kedah Cement
Jetty and private jetties along the
Sungai Klang and Sungai Aur. Being
private terminals / jetties all risks
and damage will be borne by the
respective owners of the terminals /
jetties.

iv. |
All
intended vessels should have proper
communication equipment inclusive of
a VHF radio set operating on ch. 12 and 14
and an operational radar. |
|
v. |
Vessels shall report their arrival
at the Pilot Boarding Ground prior
entering or leaving the port. All
Masters must strictly follow
instruction received from the Pilot
Operation Room and report their
position at the prescribed
way-points. Failure to do so will
result in the revocation of the
exemption. |

vi. |
Vessels shall report to the Pilot
Station their anchorage position in
range (n.m) x brg (T) from the nearest
navigational aid and the time they
dropped or weighed anchor. |
|
vii. |
All
vessels shall observe the Int.
collision Regulation (1972) and
local By Laws. |
|
viii. |
No
vessels shall impede the safe
passage of a deep draft vessel
whilst navigating within port
waters. |
|
ix. |
The
use of the auto-pilot is strictly
forbidden for all vessels navigating
within port waters. |
|
x. |
All
vessels shall navigate at a safe
speed and shall not exceed 6 knots
whilst passing the
West
Port. |
|
xi. |
Port
Klang Authority reserves the right
to withdraw the exemption at any time
and without any notice or reason. |
2.
The Usage of Tugs for Berthing / Unberthing of Vessels
|
|
NAVIGATIONAL APPROACH |
|
a.
Pulau Angsa passage through the South
channel with 200m wide and 11.3m
depth.
Ships from Penang and to Penang enter
and leave the port by the North
Klang
Straits.
b.
Pintu Gedong for passage through the
South channel with 360m wide and 11.3m
depth.
Ships from and to Singapore enter
and leave by the South Klang Straits. |

ANCHORAGE |
|
Per
latest admiralty charts. Vessels may
load timber and ore from privately owned
junks at Deep Water Point Anchorage,
exceptional cases and with permission of
Port Authority it is also possible to
work with Authority's lighters at deep
water point.
Special
Anchorages:
The
Port Authority provides an explosives
anchorage and a LASH anchorage situated
North of Tanjung Bakau in the North
Klang Straits. The quarantine anchorage
is located North-West of the North Port
wharves. |
