First word by the General Manager 
Very often when transport-related charges - such as the terminal handling charges, demurrage fees, forwarding charges - are increased by various parties involved in the transport pipeline, there is a general tendency by many to assume that the port charges have gone up. 

Datin honoured CIT fellowship
It was yet another honour for PKA when its General Manager, Datin O C Phang, was conferred the Honorary Fellowship by the Chartered Institute of Transport (Malaysia Section) at the Institute's Annual Dinner in Petaling Jaya on 15th September, 2000.

United Alliance offers direct AMA service to Port Klang
The momentum of growing shipping services mark yet another milestone at Port Klang with the additional service from United Alliance - comprising Hanjin Shipping, Senator Lines, Cho Yang Shipping and the United Arab Shipping Company.

Barge links Batu Pahat inland terminal and Port Klang
OOCL become the first ocean carrier to develop a barge terminal in Batu Pahat to feeder transhipment traffic from southern region of Peninsular Malaysia directly to Port Klang. 

Jet Feeder increases sailings 
Realising the huge potential for the development of transhipment traffic, Semua Shipping has decided to move into container ship operation with a vessel named, Jet Joanna.

Conventional terminal services agreement
Westport has introduced an innovative conventional terminal service agreement that integrates the entire cargo handling operations, including stevedoring and other shipboard services under a single management structure and offering a single pricing.

Port Klang Authority receives ISO 9000
Port Klang Authority received its ISO 9000 Certification on August 12, 2000 from the Chief Secretary to Government, Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali in conjuction with the KMK 2000 Quality Award presentation ceremony in Malacca. Accepting the award on behalf Port Klang Authority (PKA), Datin O.C Phang said the certification endorsed that PKA's implementation of internationally accepted standards at the Free Commercial Zone. 

Tank Containers - A new source of traffic
The commissioning of the Clean Sea Terminal Westport (CSTW) for cleaning ISO tank container facility at Free Commercial Zone of Westport has added to the growing importance of Port Klang as a maritime center offering a wider range of ancillary shipping services.


First diesel electric straddle carrier in the region
Klang Container Terminal has commissioned the first of the 11 Diesel Electric Transmission version straddle carriers - the first to do so at a local or in a regional port.
