As
a
further
proof
of
the
growing
pervasive
influence
of
qualitative
improvement
over
its
role
in
facilitation
of
the
nation's
trade,
Port
Klang
Authority
was
awarded
the
Excellent
Service
Award
1999
by
the
National
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
Industry
Malaysia.
The
Award
for
the
small
organization
category
with
less
than
100
personnel,
was
presented
to
Port
Klang
Authority
(PKA)
at
the
"Malam
Anugerah
Kualiti
Perhidmatan
Awam"
held
on
13th
April
in
Kuala
Lumpur.
Representative
of
the
National
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
Industry
Malaysia
(NCCIM),
Datuk
Sri
Ram
Sharma,
presented
the
Award
to
the
general
manager
of
PKA,
Datin
O
C
Phang.
PKA
was
picked
for
the
Award,
which
carries
a
plaque
and
a
cash
voucher
worth
RM3,
000,
from
a
list
of
14
other
government
agencies,
which
included
Jabatan
Perancang
Bandar
and
Desa
Pahang,
Institut
Kefahaman
Islam
Malaysia
(IKIM),
the
Malaysian
Co-operatives
College
and
FINAS
as
finalists.
A
panel
of
18
members,
headed
by
NCCIM,
picked
the
winner
for
the
Award.
Accepting
the
Award
on
behalf
of
PKA,
Datin
Phang
said
selection
of
PKA
was
an
acknowledgement
of
the
improvements
achieved
by
the
port
authority
in
enhancing
the
quality
of
services
rendered
to
port
users,
many
of
whom
are
also
from
NCCIM.
"As
an
organization
which
has
its
primary
role
in
facilitating
trade
by
interfacing
with
a
number
of
agencies
and
parties,
we
take
serious
efforts
in
ensuring
that
port
users
enjoy
an
efficient
level
of
service
by
focusing
on
quality.
We
take
deep
satisfaction
that
our
efforts
in
this
direction
has
been
recognized,"
she
said.
