 GATEWAY (A publication of PKA)

Updated ..... September 11, 2000

Port Klang Cited For Excellence

As a further proof of the growing pervasive influence of qualitative improvement over its role in facilitation of the nation's trade, Port Klang Authority was awarded the Excellent Service Award 1999 by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia.

The Award for the small organization category with less than 100 personnel, was presented to Port Klang Authority (PKA) at the "Malam Anugerah Kualiti Perhidmatan Awam" held on 13th April in Kuala Lumpur.

Representative of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM), Datuk Sri Ram Sharma, presented the Award to the general manager of PKA, Datin O C Phang.

PKA was picked for the Award, which carries a plaque and a cash voucher worth RM3, 000, from a list of 14 other government agencies, which included Jabatan Perancang Bandar and Desa Pahang, Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM), the Malaysian Co-operatives College and FINAS as finalists.

A panel of 18 members, headed by NCCIM, picked the winner for the Award.

Accepting the Award on behalf of PKA, Datin Phang said selection of PKA was an acknowledgement of the improvements achieved by the port authority in enhancing the quality of services rendered to port users, many of whom are also from NCCIM.

"As an organization which has its primary role in facilitating trade by interfacing with a number of agencies and parties, we take serious efforts in ensuring that port users enjoy an efficient level of service by focusing on quality. We take deep satisfaction that our efforts in this direction has been recognized," she said.
