services

fast-expanding
at
Johor.
The
landing
craft
jetty
at
the
Johor
Port
has
been
attracting
an
increasing
number
of
passengers
visiting
outlying
islands.
The
increase
is
also
seen
as
a
successful
outcome
of
the
Federal
Government's
decision
to
encourage
domestic
tourism
by
giving
various
incentives
including
first
and
third
Saturday
off-day
for
government
servants.
Among
the
popular
service
at
the
passenger
terminal
is
the
cruise
service
provided
by
New
Century
Cruise
liner.
Its
carrier,
Amusement
World
with
a
500-passenger
capacity
has
been
the
main
focal
point
for
tourists.
"Our
'cruise
to
now-where'
service
is
becoming
very
popular,"
said
Azizi
xxx
of
New
Century
Cruise
Liner.
"This
is
reflected
in
the
number
of
passengers
on
board
during
the
week-ends
particularly
on
the
first
and
third
Saturday
of
each
month.
We
have
full
bookings
up
to
500
passengers
compared
with
200-250
on
normal
days.
In
view
of
the
growing
demand
for
the
cruising
sector
we
are
upgrading
our
facilities
and
providing
additional
facilities
for
valued
clients,"
he
added.
The
positive
growth
of
the
cruise
services
has
also
been
contributed
by
Tenaga
Alam
Sdn
Bhd.
The
speed-boat
service
provider
between
Batam
and
Malindo
Islands
said
the
cruise
industry
was
moving
into
higher
gears.
"We
have
deployed
two
speed
boats,
Malindo
I
and
II,
between
these
sectors
which
takes
about
45
minutes.
The
speed
boat
is
capable
of
carrying
up
to
91
passengers
and
we
are
regularly
providing
two
daily
services
between
these
sectors,"
said
