Tasco Confident of Bonded Trucking Market

Trans-Asia Shipping Corporation Sdn Bhd (Tasco), a leading bonded trucking services provider is confident of the growing market needs for bonded truck services in the country.

"The company, which operates a fleet of 100 units of bonded trucks, is poised to capture the growing demands for the inter and intra and industrial zones cargo movements in this country", said Abdul Rashid bin Abbas, the Director of Tasco.

"The bonded trucking industry has been experiencing a 5 per cent growth and is now projected to grow by at least 8 per cent in the current year. Realising the huge surge in demand we are currently carrying out a fleet renewal programme and enhancing our operational capabilities," said Abdul Rashid.

"To ensure safe mode of cargo movement between Port and industrial zones, we ventured into bonded truck operations way back in 1989 with 'Harimau Express' as the brand name," said Abd Rashid.

The Johor Branch of Tasco was formed in 1990 immediately upon the company's restructuring exercise aimed at providing total logistics solutions to the manufacturing and other related industries.

The branch office status was further enhanced with the setting-up of the Pasir Gudang Logistics Centre in 1996 within the Free Commercial Zone of Pasir Gudang.

The Centre, which covers an area of 19,400 sq.m, provides ample space for storage facility and faster clearance than any other trucking companies.

"Our close proximity to the container yard and the good cooperation from Johor Port allows us to deliver the consignments promptly within 24 hours from the time of vessel arrival at Johor Port Container Terminal," said Abdul Rashid.

"Over the years we have managed to build a large network to cater for the diverse needs of our clients. The 17 branches offices along the North-South Expressway able to support the fast-growing warehousing, distribution services in the southern region," he added.

"Our fleet of 100 bonded trucks are deployed in the various dedicated and non-dedicated destinations. For instance we have daily bonded trucks connections to Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore from Pasir Gudang," said Abdul Rashid.

He said that unlike other trucking companies, bonded truck operators pay greater attention on the security and safety aspects of the cargo.

"We move cargoes and not containers like hauliers between Seaports and customers premises. In view of this, we have installed radiophone communication system at our trucks to facilitate easier and faster tracking of the movement of the cargo at any time. This has also raised our productivity and efficiency," stressed Abdul. Rashid
