 NEWS

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

With intensive development now underway to improve and enhance the cargo handling facilities and services at our port, we are embarking on an aggressive marketing promotion to win more cargo and customers. We recognize that both shipping lines, as well as cargo owners need to be well informed about the development  at the port to help them plan their transportation and logistic requirements

A major component of this effort will be to inform port users of the vast changes taking place at Kuantan Port. New projects being planned will be highlighted to customers, including the construction of new berths dedicated to handling containers and chemicals products, the widening of cargo base at the port, as well as increase in the rage and frequency of shipping services.

The promotional effort will be part of the port's total vision to broaden its  market outreach,  especially in positioning itself as a niche  hub port in the  rapidly growing Pacific Rim countries.

The marketing and promotion drive will cover both the domestic market and the potential expanding markets overseas.

The need for the promotional effort has also been made necessary in the light of dramatic expansion of the petrochemicals industries within the economic hinterland of Kuantan Port. The increasing attraction of the Eastern Industrial Corridor to petrochemicals industries has significantly boosted the prospects of Kuantan Port  handling substantial increase in cargo in the immediate  years ahead. With this change Kuantan Port now stands at the threshold of an exciting future as the region's petrochemical hub port.

We are confident that our promotional effort will be well  received. We hope not only to win more new customers but also to receive further supports from our loyal customers who have made us grow over the years into a port of international repute.

Dato' Shamsudin Md. Dubi.
