THE unexpected
surge in the growth of container traffic at Kuantan Port has increased the
demand for more consolidation and deconsolidation activities.
In view of the increased demand, Tiong Nam Transport has opened-up a 30,000
sq ft warehouse in Kuantan to cater for the needs of east coast shippers.
“The facility would be complementing our 35 werehouse and four bonded
warehouse facilities all over Malaysia and with a total warehouse space
totaling more than 2.5 million square feet,” said the Managing Director of
Tiong Nam Transport Holding Bhd, Ong Yoong Nyock.
“Our bonded warehouses are there to provide our clients with legal custody
of all taxable goods without having to pay duties until such time when the
goods are despatched for conversion use or export / import. We will ensure
that customers goods will be systematically and efficiently stored for easy
identification, quick accessibility, retrieval, loading and unloading,” he
said.
He said with offices in all the major ports in Malaysia, Thailand and
Singapore, the company is able to provide east coast shippers with the
transport plans, monitoring of goods, customs clearance / documentation and
even distribution, packaging and insurance assistance.
“Tiong Nam is constantly upgrading our warehousing technology consistent
with the ever changing needs of our customers. We adopt and assimilate the
changes efficiently to provide a continuous wide range of warehousing
services and facilities, said Ong.
He said another strong point is that the company will also customise the
Warehouse Management System (WMS) to suit customers’ requirement.
“We are constantly upgrading our equipment to provide better services
to our customers. Tiong Nam has also invested in the appropriate high
performance and innovative-designed forklifts combined with experienced
operators, to ensure goods are handled safely and efficiently even under the
most difficult material handling conditions,” he added.
“Our warehouses are computerised and we can provide information on the lot,
date code or expiry tracking. Goods can be issued FIFO or by a particular
Lot number or Date Code. Products with expiry dates are tracked and issued
with the earliest expiry date first,” said Ong.
“Tiong Nam does not have to depend on other logistics provider for delivery,
unlike other warehouse operators. Our huge and varied fleet of trucks
ensures that goods are delivered on time and meet the customers’
expectations,” stressed Ong.
The company is now operating a fleet of 800 container and general cargo
lorries ranging from 14 - 40 foot.
“We are able to move containers from the port to premises of shippers and
vice-versa. With our new fleet of prime movers and trailers, we can
efficiently deliver your containers to meet the shipping requirement of
shippers in the east coast,” he said. |
